Ocean Properties Hotels Resorts and Affiliates was started in the 1950s by Thomas T. Walsh as a small family business with one hotel and since has grown into one of the largest consortium of hotel operating and development groups in North America operating over 100 hotels with over 17,000 guestrooms. Ocean Properties Hotels Resorts and Affiliates is the largest hotel group of companies in Florida operating more than 30 hotels across the State.
The Companies have corporate offices in Delray Beach, FL; Portsmouth, NH; Montreal, QC and Vancouver, BC. Major affiliates include Atlific Hotels & Resorts. Atlific Hotels & Resorts, the largest independent hotel management companies in Canada became an Ocean Properties Hotels Resorts and Affiliate in 1997. Atlific Hotels and Resorts represent a consortium of Candian hotels and resorts operating from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Vancouver, British Columbia.
In addition to developing and managing hotels and resorts, The Companies develop and operate restaurants, spas, golf courses, commercial real estate, marina operations and boating tours, often on behalf of third party investors and lenders.
Ocean Properties Hotels Resort and Affiliates’ hotel and restaurant operations are well-respected in the industry for innovative concepts and quality offerings along with the ability to generate bottom-line profits.
The Companies also owns and operates a full spectrum of marine related ventures including the only privately held cruise ship terminal on the east coast located in Key West, Florida and the largest ferry service in Florida. The Companies are also the owner of Maine’s largest boat touring operation offering whale and puffin watching, light house tours, nature tours and National park tours.
The Companies continuously seek out and embark on new hotel development opportunities. The strategy is to expand affiliated hotel portfolio maintaining a long-term industry outlook and investment philosophy. Even during the current recession the Companies have not wavered from this view forging ahead with multi-million dollar investments including the recent development of the 454 room Le Westin in Old Montreal and the acquisition, renovation and expansion of The Sagamore Resort at Lake George in Bolton Landing, New York.
The latest significant growth projects include the acquisition of the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater Beach FL and the complete redevelopment of The Latham Hotel in Center City Philadelphia to become a modern, urban, boutique hotel. The companies also debuted its third waterfront hotel in Bar Harbor in the spring of 2012, the West Street Hotel. The companies have also recently purchased the nationally recognized Lake Placid Lodge in NY and Longboat Key Club in FL.
